Everton's Sylvain Distin expected Marouane Fellaini, Leighton Baines to be focused

Sylvain Distin says that he expected Everton duo Marouane Fellaini and Leighton Baines to remain focused, despite interest from Manchester United.

Everton defender Sylvain Distin has claimed that he expected Marouane Fellaini and Leighton Baines to act professionally within the team, despite interest from Manchester United.

The pair have been the subject of a rejected joint £28m bid from the Premier League champions, who are yet to bring any high-profile players to Old Trafford, despite just seven days remaining in the transfer window.

While it could be suggested that Fellaini and Baines would be distracted by the speculation, Distin has insisted that the Everton camp have not been disrupted.

"I wasn't expecting anything else," the Liverpool Echo quotes Distin as saying. "That's how Everton is, and that's the types of players they are. It could be them or anyone else and I'd expect the same professionalism.

"Sometimes you have to remember the difference between what the papers say and what the truth is. People are trying to guess what the players think or feel but it can be very far from the truth."

The Toffees have picked up two points from a possible six in the Premier League following two draws from the first two games of the season.
