Bill Kenwright delighted by record Everton profits

Bill Kenwright hails Everton's "special" 2013-14 season which saw the club post profits of more than £28m.

Everton chairman Bill Kenwright has revealed his delight at news that the club made record profits of more than £28m for the 2013-14 season.

Broadcast revenues of £88.5m, as well as hefty transfer fees received for Marouane Fellaini, Victor Anichebe and Nikica Jelavic, ensured that Everton posted a record sum.

The Toffees also enjoyed a fine campaign on the pitch in their first season under Roberto Martinez, only narrowly missing out on a place in the Champions League.

"It was a special season that blended the optimism of youth, a much talked-about, bold new style, individual brilliance and an enduring team spirit that runs through every Everton squad," Kenwright is quoted as saying by BT Sport.

"A season that brought a club record Premier League points haul - a total that in almost any other year, would have sealed Champions' League football. It was a season that, quite simply, we didn't want to end."

The current sums do not include the summer purchases of Romelu Lukaku, Gareth Barry, Muhamed Besic and Samuel Eto'o.
