Everton manager Roberto Martinez has claimed that Ross Barkley is one of the best young players in Europe following his impressive first start for England.
Barkley won praise for his display in the 2-2 draw with Ecuador on Wednesday, and Martinez believes that there is much more to come from the 20-year-old.
"He is the biggest talent for his age I have seen in European football," the Spaniard told the Daily Mail.
"He is a special player, a unique player and that is so rare. He has power, pace and technical ability - elements you rarely find in a player. He would look at home in the Spanish, German or Dutch models, no doubt about it.
"We have a responsibility to develop his talent and to protect and nurture him."
Barkley is expected to play a part in England's final warm-up match against Honduras on Saturday ahead of their World Cup campaign.
