The 20-year-old, who came through the club's academy, made his first-team debut for the Toffees last season.
"I know it takes time to progress. I want a run of games and to get fully fit - then I'll see where I am after that. I think if I got on for the first team I'd have a good chance of scoring," he told the Liverpool Echo.
McAleny is currently sidelined with a knee injury.
