Garry Monk: Roberto Martinez is a "good manager"

Swansea City manager Garry Monk insists that Everton boss Roberto Martinez is a "good manager" despite his side's struggles in the Premier League this season.

Garry Monk has said that Roberto Martinez is a "good manager" despite Everton's struggles in the Premier League this season.

The Toffees have moved up to 12th in the table after picking up three straight wins in the league, but are still a way off last season's fifth-placed finish.

Ahead of Everton's trip to the Liberty Stadium this weekend, the Swansea City manager said at his press conference: "I always say you're only a few games away from being great or rubbish. Roberto is a good manager, but sometimes you have good periods and sometimes you have bad ones.

"It's just making sure you come through them and he's won the last three games, they're back on the up and he'll want to finish the season strongly.

"Of course they'd want to be pushing further up the league and it's not a position you'd associate with Everton. But if they can get back up to finish positively it will put a different twist on the season."

Martinez left Swansea to take charge of Wigan Athletic in 2009.
