Everton manager David Moyes declares that he is pleased to claim a late point against Wigan Athletic thanks to an 87th-minute penalty from Leighton Baines.

Everton manager David Moyes has declared that he was pleased with the way his players responded to come away with a point from their trip to Wigan Athletic.

The Toffees needed a late penalty from Leighton Baines to make the score 2-2 at the DW Stadium against a Wigan side who had led twice through Arouna Kone and Franco Di Santo.

Moyes told BBC Sport that he was disappointed with the way his team played in the early stages but is ultimately happy with a point.

He said: "It was a hard-earned point, we worked really hard to get back in to the game. We didn't start well, but Wigan did.

"We kept at it and deserved to get a goal back. I thought we had another penalty shout with Nikica Jelavic in the second half which should have been given."

The comeback keeps Everton in third place in the Premier League and continues a bright start to the season for Moyes's side.
