Phil Neville 'interested in vacant Everton job'

Phil Neville is reportedly interested in becoming the new manager of Everton following Ronald Koeman's sacking.

Phil Neville is reportedly interested in returning to his former club Everton as manager.

The position opened up on Monday afternoon when Ronald Koeman was sacked by the club for a string of poor results.

The Dutchman, who left Southampton to take charge of the Toffees in 2016, had recorded just two wins in nine Premier League games, with the final straw being Sunday's 5-2 defeat to Arsenal.

Under-23s coach David Unsworth has been put in temporary charge, but according to BBC Sport, Neville wants to be considered for the full-time position.

The 40-year-old, who came through the ranks at Manchester United, spent eight years at the Merseyside outfit, making more than 250 appearances.

Neville has experience coaching at assistant level having had spells at United and Valencia, where at one point he acted as his brother Gary's right-hand man.
