Sam Allardyce: 'Everton were terrible against Southampton'

Everton manager Sam Allardyce admits that his side were "terrible" during their 1-1 draw with Southampton at Goodison Park.

Everton manager Sam Allardyce has admitted that his side were "terrible" during their 1-1 draw with Southampton this evening.

The Toffees needed a deflected Tom Davies strike in the 96th minute to avoid defeat at home to the relegation-threatened Saints, having earlier fallen behind to Nathan Redmond's goal.

The match was marred by complaints from the fans against Allardyce's management of the club, but the man himself acknowledged that the supporters had every right to criticise such a performance.

"We weren't playing well. You get boos everywhere you go where you don't play well," he told reporters.

"I thought we were terrible. We couldn't pass to each other but you have to forgive these boys because of how hard they worked to get this club out of trouble but there seems to be no credit for what they have done.

"There seems to be no recognition for that. That is sad. In terms of the some of the fans, some of the media, and I find it rather sad."

Everton can now finish no higher than their current position of eighth this season.
