Roberto Martinez: 'Everton are in a relegation scrap'

Everton manager Roberto Martinez acknowledges that the Toffees are fighting for Premier League survival after accruing just 28 points from 28 games this season.

Everton manager Roberto Martinez has accepted that his club are fighting for Premier League survival.

The Toffees are six points above the relegation zone after just winning one of their last 12 games in the league.

Martinez told the Sunday Telegraph: "Any team that hasn't got 40 points in the final third of the season is in a relegation fight. The big advantage I have is that I've been through that [before]."

Everton have 28 points from 28 games, their lowest total at this stage of a season in the Premier League era.
