Everton are reportedly weighing up a January offer for Jean-Kevin Augustin, despite RB Leipzig wanting £38m for the forward.
The 21-year-old, formerly on Paris Saint-Germain's books, has five goals from 16 Bundesliga and Europa League appearances this season.
Toffees boss Marco Silva is said to be keen to bring in Augustin next month to lead his line, and The Sun suggests that he may be backed by the club's owners.
However, Everton are not willing to meet the German club's valuation, so they could instead use Ademola Lookman as a makeweight in the deal.
Leipzig hold a long-term interest in Lookman, whom they attempted to sign in the summer following his successful spell on loan at the Red Bull Arena last season.
Everton are also said to be willing to offload flop striker Cenk Tosun for around £15m, just a year after signing him from Besiktas.
