Torino fight back to beat Fiorentina

Torino recover after letting in an early goal to beat Fiorentina 3-1 in Serie A.

Torino have come from behind to maintain their unbeaten start to the Serie A season with a 3-1 win over Fiorentina at the Stadio Olimpico.

Fiorentina broke the deadlock after 10 minutes when Marcos Alonso fired the ball in from close range after Daniele Padelli had parried a headed effort from Nikola Kalinic moments earlier.

However, Torino started to dominate the possession soon after, and came close to equalising shortly before half time when Fabio Quagliarella tried to head in at the near post, forcing a reflex save from Ciprian Tatarusanu.

Fiorentina remained ahead at the start of the second half, but it was the home side who continued to show the more intent, with Danilo Avelar and Joseph Martinez both getting the ball into the box for Torino.

The hosts' effort paid off with 20 minutes remaining when Avelar's cross was only cleared as far as Emiliano Moretti, leaving him to blast the ball in from the edge of the box to get Torino back on level terms.

Fiorentina found themselves having to defend again just a minute later, but they were unable to halt Quagliarella's run, leaving him one-on-one with the keeper, before drilling it into the bottom-right corner.

Torino's charge continued, resulting in a third in the space of nine minutes when Daniele Baselli won the ball back in midfield before spotting the keeper off his line, unleashing a 25-yard effort to all but seal the win for the home side.

Torino wanted a fourth in stoppage time, though, as Tatarusanu parried a long-range effort from Avelar into the path of Quagliarella, but the keeper quickly recovered to keep it out again.

The result gives Torino maximum points from their first two fixtures of the campaign, leaving them second in the table, while Fiorentina sit eighth.
