Zlatan Ibrahimovic backs former Manchester United teammate Paul Pogba and Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe to star for France at the World Cup.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has tipped former Manchester United teammate Paul Pogba and Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe to play starring roles for France at the 2018 World Cup.

Pogba, 25, struggled for consistency during the 2017-18 campaign, and was jeered by France fans in their recent international friendlies against Italy and United States.

Ibrahimovic, however, has backed the central midfielder to impress at this summer's competition.

The Los Angeles Galaxy forward has also tipped Mbappe, who has four goals in 15 appearances for his country, to play a starring role in Russia.

"I think Pogba for sure, who everybody knows is fast and skilful," Ibrahimovic told FIFA.com. "Mbappe, an upcoming star who still has more to give to get to the top, but he will for sure arrive there."

France will open their Group C campaign against Australia on June 16.
