Blaise Matuidi praises Paul Pogba display

Blaise Matuidi praises Paul Pogba for his display during France's World Cup last-16 victory against Nigeria.

Blaise Matuidi has praised Paul Pogba for his display during France's 2-0 victory against Nigeria in the last 16 of the World Cup.

The Juventus midfielder scored the first goal of the match, with the French going on to add a second late on to book their place in the quarter-finals of the tournament.

Pogba has been the subject of intense transfer speculation due to his impressive performances in Serie A, and Matuidi believes that he is living up to expectations.

"Paul produced a great performance," he told reporters. "They say that big players show up in big matches.

"He has a lot of weight on his shoulders. Don't forget he's 21."

France will face Germany in the quarter-finals of the tournament at the Maracana on Friday.
