Fulham boss Martin Jol was proud and surprised with his side following their penalty shoot-out defeat to Chelsea in the third round of the Carling Cup.
The hosts won 4-3 on spot kicks to book their place in the fourth round after neither side could find the net in 120 minutes.
"I had the feeling in the back of my mind that we could beat them here for the first time in 32 years," Jol said.
"They had a few other players in, we had a new team for the first time - new back four, new midfield, up front.
"I still had the feeling that we could do well with this group of players and we did."
Fulham go in search of their first league win of the season this Saturday when they take on West Brom at the Hawthorns.
