Brede Hangeland: 'We must go ahead in games'

Fulham's Brede Hangeland wants Fulham to start taking the lead in games instead of constantly going behind.

Fulham captain Brede Hangeland has admitted that his side cannot keep conceding the first goal in their Premier League matches, or they will leave themselves with too much to do.

For the third game running Fulham went in level at the break but ended up on the losing side, this time in a 3-0 defeat to Southampton at Craven Cottage.

"With a bit of luck in the first half we could have gone one up," Sky Sports News quotes Hangeland as saying. "I can't remember the last time we took the lead in a game so that's a big factor in winning games in this league.

"It's extremely disappointing and results weren't kind to us either so it was a tough day - but all we can do is graft as much as we can for the remainder of the season and see what happens.

"You can get good results against the top teams if you play well and that's what we're hoping to do."

Fulham's next league game is away to Manchester United next weekend.
