Kit Symons "very confident" of Fulham appointment

Fulham caretaker manager Kit Symons believes that he has given the club little choice but to give him the job on a full-time basis.

Fulham caretaker manager Kit Symons has revealed that he is "very confident" of being offered the job on a full-time basis.

The Welshman earned his fifth win in eight matches on Friday night as the Cottagers moved out of the Championship relegation zone with a 3-0 victory at home to Charlton Athletic.

Symons believes that his positive impact on the team has given the club little choice but to appoint him as permanent boss.

"I haven't checked my phone yet but I am very confident I'll get it. It has to be getting more difficult, with the team winning games, for the five-man panel not to see the obvious thing to do for this football club," he told BBC Sport.

"The chairman is over the week after next. I don't know what to expect, I understand the process but not when a decision will be made or how it will come about. Hopefully we'll find out sooner rather than later."

Fulham are back in action on Tuesday when they host Derby County in the fourth round of the League Cup.
