Martin Allen admits that he was left stunned by Matt Fish's goal for Gillingham against Accrington Stanley.

Gillingham manager Martin Allen has conceded that he was shocked by Matt Fish's goal during his side's 1-0 victory over Accrington Stanley earlier today.

The full-back had only scored once previously for the Gills before his strike in the 24th minute from distance nestled into the Accrington net via the underside of the crossbar.

Reflecting on the match-winning moment, Allen admitted that he wasn't aware that the 24-year-old possessed that sort of ability.

"I've never even seen Matt kick it with his left foot but then he nearly broke the crossbar," Allen told PA Sport. "[It was an] unbelievable shot [and it] went in like a missile.

"And what a great moment that was for him, he's been fantastic this season and he keeps getting better and better. He's a top lad on and off the field."

Fish joined Gillingham from Dover Athletic back in 2011.
