Half-Time Report: Scott Boden goal gives Halifax Town lead

An early strike from Scott Boden gives Halifax Town a 1-0 half-time advantage over Forest Green Rovers.

Halifax Town have taken a 1-0 lead into half time in their Conference Premier fixture against Forest Green Rovers.

Halifax, who registered their first win in six fixtures on Saturday in beating Alfreton Town, started the stronger of the two sides and it only took them five minutes to edge in front.

Some neat interchanges in and around the penalty area concluded with Ross Dyer setting up Scott Boden, who drilled a shot across the goalkeeper for his ninth goal of the campaign.

Forest Green almost found an immediate response when Kurtis Guthrie's header was kept out by Matt Glennon before the Shaymen went down the other end where a double save from Sam Russell prevented them from doubling their advantage in the early stages.

As the half reached the midway point, Forest Green began to find their feet but Guthrie's effort was never threatening the target despite being well placed.

However, Guthrie was proving a handful for the home defence and after winning a free kick on the edge of the area, Jon Parkin's strike forced Glennon into another solid intervention.

Parkin wasted another opportunity after being played through before the half concluded, with James Norwood blazing over the crossbar after good work from Elliott Frear.
