Relive our live text commentary from the Bundesliga as Hertha Berlin drew 0-0 at home to Freiburg.

Hertha Berlin were held to only their second home draw of the Bundesliga season as Freiburg came to the capital to earn a good point.

The home side might have taken the lead inside the opening minute when Sami Allagui found himself through, but he could only shoot wide under pressure.

Both sides had a few chances each to win the game, but there was not enough good attacking play from either to do enough to take the points and in the end they left with one each.

Read how the action unfolded below.

Good evening fussball fans! Matchday 23 starts right here this evening and first up to kick things off is Hertha against Freiburg. Hertha have been inconsistent of late and Freiburg are on a poor run, which should mean an interesting encounter tonight.

Hertha have been excellent this season upon their return to the top flight. Early on it looked as though they were maybe running on momentum but they are in fact the real deal and are definitely in with a chance of European qualification. They have three wins and as many defeats from the last six.

Freiburg a few weeks ago looked as though they were getting back into form with two consecutive wins, but since then they have picked up just one point from 12 and are in real trouble. They are no longer in the Europa League so that is no longer an excuse. Simply, the players are under-performing.

The teams are in, so let's have a look at who we'll be watching tonight, shall we? Hertha would move above Borussia Monchengladbach with a win.

HERTHA XI: Kraft; Pekarik, Langkamp, Kobiashvili, Van den Bergh; Ndjeng, Cigerci, Hosogai, Ben-Hatira, Allagui; Ramos

FREIBURG XI: Baumann; Sorg, Ginter, Gunter, Krmas; Schmidt, Schuster, Fernandes, Guede, Darida; Mehmedi

Adrian Ramos, naturally, will be the big dangerman for the hosts tonight. He has been unstoppable at times this season while the Freiburg defence hasn't been. Their big problem away from home, however, has been their lack of goals. Freiburg have just nine in 11 away from home so far.

It will be Admir Mehmedi leading the line for the visitors tonight, with Vladimir Darida in behind him to provide the creativity. There is plenty of grit in the middle, too, with Gelson Fernandes and Karim Guede holding things in midfield. Looking at the two teams it's hard to see beyond a home win.

A look at the odds tells us the the bookies also do not expect Freiburg to cause an upset tonight. The 8/13 you can get on a home win seems quite generous for me, and I certainly wouldn't be tempted by 9/2 for Freiburg. The draw is 11/4.

PREDICTION: You may not be surprised to hear that I'm going to plump for a Hertha victory in this one. I think they will claim a relatively comfortable 2-0 win to move - if only temporarily - into the top six.

KICKOFF: We're underway in the spectacular Olympic Stadium.

CHANCE! Just 20 seconds in it could be 1-0! Allagui latches on to some awful defending and shoots from the edge of the box, but there was just enough pressure to force his effort wide. A flying start here for the home team.

Some dodgy defending of their own there from Hertha. Hosogai slices a clearance and it's headed clear by his own goalkeeper Kraft, but the referee blew for a foul before. Very sloppy early on here.

It's settled down slightly now after that frantic opening. Hertha are probably just about on top of proceedings but aside from that early Allagui chance there has been nothing further created at either end.

SHOT! Half-chance really there for Mehmedi. He cut on to his right boot and shot low, but Kraft was down well to gather pretty comfortably.

Freiburg have seen a little more of the ball in the last few minutes since that chance. They have recovered well from the early error at the back and are playing calmly. There's a brilliant cross from the right by Guede, but Mehmedi was offside from it.

The crossing from the home team, from all angles, has not been good so far. On a couple of occasions now Cigerci has tried to find teammates in the box but both times he has made it too easy for Baumann in the away goal to gather.

A Hosogai cross from deep causes all sorts of trouble in the Freiburg box, but the away side just about manage to get it clear. They break through Guede down the right but he is brought down and wins a free kick. It's all very even here.

There have still been very few chances and no really good ones since the first minute. Freiburg are looking more and more comfortable, though and they are probing very nicely in the middle.

Gunter has been solid in defence so far for Freiburg, as he launches another big clearance upfield. Ramos and Ben-Hatira combine on the edge of the box but the latter can't get a shot away before he's tackled.

Midway through the opening half then and there's still no real hint as to which team will score first. Most of the play is happening in the middle of the pitch at the moment and it's very tactical.

It's Hertha's turn to take control of the passing, but mainly in their own half. Kobiashvili is looking very composed so far, but the captain for the day will certainly want to see more from his attacking teammates than they have shown in the opening 30 minutes.

We have seen very little from Adrian Ramos thus far, and for that a lot of credit has to go to the Freiburg defence. He might have been involved there as Allagui looked to pass to him, but the referee got in the way and blocked the ball!

Guede has worked hard on that right hand side, but without much luck so far. This time Kobiashvili beats him to the ball before getting his body in the way and going down to win a cheap free kick. Guede was just too eager there.

CHANCE! A brilliant ball is whipped in by Cigerci and Allagui is able to meet it but ends up flicking it on and past the far post.

It's still very even at the moment. Hertha have arguably seen more of the ball in the middle, but the threat of the counter from the visitors is definitely there. Still just the one big early chance, though.

Both defences have been more than equal to anything that has been thrown at them so far. Not that there has been much in the way of high-tempo play as both sides are remaining patient. Hosogai shoots from some 30 yards but it goes comfortably over the bar.

CHANCE! Huge chance for the away side to take the lead at the perfect time. Darida gets the ball after a nice passing move but lashes his shot straight at Kraft.

HALF-TIME: Hertha Berlin 0-0 Freiburg

It has been an interesting half with a couple of chances at both ends, but it's fair to say that neither side has yet done enough to be leading. That could all change in the second half, though.

The hosts' best chance came after just 20 seconds. There was a mix-up in the Freiburg defence which allowed Allagui a sight of goal, but under some pressure he shot wide from the edge of the box.

For Freiburg their best chance came right before the half-time whistle. It was Darida who found space to shoot but he could only direct it at Kraft.

Some substitutes are out on the pitch warming up at the break, but I'm not sure we will see any until perhaps another 15 minutes. Certainly Christian Streich will be pleased with the commitment from Freiburg so far.

The players are coming back out for the second half then. I'll let you know of any changes, but as yet I can't see any.

Here we go then. The second half is underway - let's hope for a goal!

Guede goes down after Hosogai backed into him in midfield. I think the Hertha man was a little fortunate to escape a booking, but I'm sure he'll get one soon. He usually does.

Decent enough start to the second 45 from the hosts. Cigerci causes some problems with a deep free kick but Freiburg manage to clear it out of touch and Hertha have to come again. They're certainly the better team in the opening five or so minutes in this half.

SAVE! Mehmedi has looked the most threatening player for the hosts and he's just tested Kraft with a header. If it was either side of the keeper it might have troubled him, but as it was Kraft was able to tip over. That's the closest we've come to a goal so far.

A whipped free kick forces Kraft into action with a punch. The hosts clear and Ramos is bearing down on the pass over the top, but Gunter does well to remain calm and recycle possession. This is a strong spell from the visitors.

Half-chance with a header there from Ramos, who throws himself at a cross from the right by Allagui but can't make any sort of contact and it skids through.

HERTHA SUB: Ndjeng makes way for Per Skjelbred. A little bit more creativity there in the middle for the hosts then, as Ronny also warms up on the sidelines - he can certainly be the difference.

Rare foray forward for Van den Bergh there. He gets by Schmid on the left and crosses with his right towards Allagui, but it was too close to Baumann who is able to gather easily. Less than 30 minutes to go here, so the opening goal is looking ever more important.

HERTHA SUB: Peter Niemeyer comes on to the field for Cigerci, who limped off and could well miss a few games now. That's a shame for the hosts as he had played well to this point.

It's all a little edgy out there at the moment. The injury to Cigerci has disrupted the flow a little but and Freiburg's passing is getting a little hopeful. Credit to them, though, they are trying to force the issue here.

So just under 20 minutes left then, does either side look likely to nick it? I would say that the draw looks very much the most likely option at the moment.

Hertha are just about edging on top at the moment, but Ramos remains isolated as he has done for so much of the game so far. Freiburg are desperate for the points but have almost gone behind there! Ramos shot from nowhere and Baumann was fortunate to see it hit his shoulder and wide - that was dodgy from the away keeper.

FREIBURG SUB: Change for the away side then as Philipp Zulechner, a new signing from Austria, is on for Guede. It will be interesting to see what the new man does on his debut.

SAVE! Ramos is suddenly coming into this, but his shots are coming from range as opposed to his usual energy in the box. Baumann is forced into action again to tip over nicely.

HERTHA SUB: Ben-Hatira makes way for one of Hertha's big dangermen, Ronny.

FREIBURG SUB: Felix Klaus now coming into the action as he replaces Darida. I think that's all subs made now for both teams. So 10 minutes left, which coach has managed to turn this in his side's favour? If any, of course.

It is looking increasingly unlikely that we will not see a goal tonight. There were barely any 0-0 draws in the first half of the season, but there have been a couple lately. I will remain hopeful, however.

FREIBURG SUB: I was wrong, Freiburg have one more change. Sebastian Kerk is the last man to enter the fray with Schmid making way for him. It wasn't one of Schmid's better games against the club rumoured to be interested in him.

CHANCE! Difficult chance for Mehmedi, but a chance nonetheless. He works his way into the box and shoots from an angle, but Kraft gathers it easily and holds on.

Ramos is looking a little frustrated, and he has reason to as well - he's been marked out of the game by an excellent Freiburg defence. He has been brighter this half, as he keeps the ball in down the right but his cross goes right to Baumann. Not long left now.

Late header goalwards there from Krmas, but it was left to go wide by the man on the line Van den Bergh. Just two minutes of time will be added on.

FULL-TIME: Hertha Berlin 0-0 Freiburg

Not the best start for the weekend then as Hertha are held to a 0-0 by Freiburg. There were chances, but both defences were on top form tonight.

Thanks for joining me tonight. I'll be back with more from Germany tomorrow and we also have plenty more sporting action across the weekend. Please stick with us then! Goodnight all.
