Hertha Berlin held at home by Freiburg

Hertha Berlin drop more home points in their pursuit of European qualification as struggling Freiburg hold them to a goalless Bundesliga draw at the Olympic Stadium.

Hertha Berlin dropped points in their pursuit of European qualification tonight as they were held to a draw by lowly Freiburg at the Olympic Stadium.

Jos Luhukay's team have the worst home record of any side in the top half of the Bundesliga and continue to rue inconsistent performances on their own turf.

Both defences were on top throughout and it was Freiburg, who are second from bottom in the table, who registered five shots on target compared to Hertha's two.

Their top goalscorer Admir Mehmedi, who has seven goals to his name this season, tested Thomas Kraft with an early low shot and Berlin's goalkeeper also denied Vladimir Darida before the break.

Mehmedi continued to be Freiburg's biggest threat, but he sent a second-half header straight at Kraft, and his missed chances looked like they may prove costly as Hertha pushed for a late winner.

Adrian Ramos twice tried his luck from range and only a smart save from Oliver Baumann on 78 minutes prevented him from scoring his 15th of the campaign, as Freiburg earned a deserved point.
