Borussia Monchengladbach keep the pressure alive on Wolfsburg in the hunt for second place in the Bundesliga, courtesy of a 2-1 win over Hertha Berlin.

Ibrahima Traore struck inside the final five minutes for Borussia Monchengladbach to secure a 2-1 victory for his side this afternoon, keeping their impressive run of form alive at the expense of a dejected Hertha Berlin.

Max Kruse found the back of the net with a little over 10 minutes on the clock, but the officials adjudged that the striker was in an offside position.

The 27-year-old responded immediately by converting Raffael's squared pass to bag his 10th goal of the campaign and put the visitors into the lead.

That advantage lasted for just a little over a minute, however, as Valentin Stocker headed home from close range to level things up at the Olympic Stadium.

Granit Xhaka tried his luck with an effort from 20 yards out which Thomas Kraft was equal to, and the same player struck the bar with a headed attempt soon after, although the flag was already up.

Monchengladbach, who have now gone 11 league games without defeat, had the better chances of the first half, but they were very nearly behind when Fabian Johnson curled his free kick just inches wide of the post.

When Xhaka fizzed a volley wide with a quarter of the game left to play, the contest looked to be petering out towards a draw, yet with 85 minutes on the clock Traore curled a fine left-footed strike into the top corner to steal the points for his side.

Hertha now find themselves four points clear of the relegation zone following their third game without a win, while the Foals are hot on Wolfsburg's heels in third place.
