Steve Bruce: 'Hull City accept Alan Pardew apology'

Hull City manager Steve Bruce says that the club has accepted an apology from Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew for his headbutt on midfielder David Meyler.

Steve Bruce has said that Hull City have received and accepted an apology from Alan Pardew for his headbutt on David Meyler.

The Newcastle United manager was sent to the stands following the incident in the second half of his team's 4-1 win at the KC Stadium in the Premier League this afternoon.

"We accept Alan Pardew's apology. He has been big enough and brave enough to come out and apologise which is that you would expect. In the heat of the moment things happen but Alan has apologised," BBC Sport quotes the Hull boss as saying.

"I can only be complimentary to David Meyler because of the way he reacted to it. He could have rolled around on the floor but he didn't. I do believe he has apologised and for that we will take it.

"I am sure Alan will regret an unsavoury incident that I have not seen the like of before. It has obviously tarnished an afternoon for them and Newcastle's supporters."

Pardew admitted that he regretted his actions after the game.
