Mike Phelan: 'No panic over Hull City future'

Hull City caretaker boss Mike Phelan insists that he is not worried about his future at the club despite still being without a permanent deal.

Hull City caretaker manager Mike Phelan has insisted that there is "no panic" over his future at the club despite still not having agreed a permanent deal.

The Tigers have been without a permanent boss all season so far following Steve Bruce's departure, despite Phelan having undergone talks to take the job on a full-time basis.

The 54-year-old suggested that the discussions so far have been encouraging, but stressed that he is in no rush to get a deal over the line.

"My future will take care of itself - I'm not in a position of panic or worrying too much about it," he told reporters.

"The talks I've had have been very, very good but then once people sleep on things they tend to change overnight and it was just a case of not being particularly happy with the uncertainty of the deal.

"I stressed that, so moving on we'll have another cake and a coffee and we'll discuss it."

Hull's 2-0 defeat at the hands of Chelsea this afternoon leaves them 15th in the Premier League table with seven points from as many games.
