West Ham United beat 10-man Hull City

West Ham United secure a 2-1 win over Hull City at Upton Park after Allan McGregor was sent off in the first half.

West Ham United have sealed a 2-1 win over 10-man Hull City at Upton Park in the Premier League this evening.

Stewart Downing created a couple of early chances for the home side, forcing a save from Allan McGregor inside the opening 10 minutes before rattling the crossbar.

However, it was Mark Noble who managed to break the deadlock when the home side won a penalty, which also resulted in McGregor's dismissal for bringing down Mohamed Diame.

The visitors did not give up as Tom Huddlestone tried to find an equaliser, but sent his half-volley well high, while Maynor Figueroa was denied by Adrian in first-half stoppage time.

The Tigers were quickly back on level terms in the second half as Nikica Jelavic deflected the ball in from a Huddlestone delivery.

However, the Hammers were able to take the lead again just six minutes later as James Chester turned a cross from Guy Demel into his own net.

Hull were able to dominate possession as the second half progressed, but created few chances as they looked to come from behind for the second time.

Huddlestone forced a late save from Adrian as he tried to lash the ball in from 25 yards out, but the West Ham keeper did just enough.

The midfielder looked to create a last-gasp chance for Yannick Sagbo deep into stoppage time, but his desperate lunge towards the ball came up short, sealing the defeat for the visitors.
