Lazio midfielder Antonio Candreva has given his support to Eder and Franco Vazquez, following their inclusion in the latest Italy squad.
Brazilian-born striker Eder and Palermo's Argentine-born midfielder Vazquez have both been rewarded for their impressive displays at club level with a first call-up for the Azzurri.
However, the decision to include two players born outside of Italy has drawn criticism, with Inter Milan manager Roberto Mancini among those who have been the most vocal in their disagreement.
"I think they add extra value to the team," Football Italia quotes Candreva as saying. "[Eder and Franco Vazquez] are having an outstanding season.
"Eder is proving himself, as he's already been doing well in the past few years. We just have to give them the right conditions to show their qualities."
Vazquez has provided the most assists in Serie A this season, while Eder's nine goals have lifted his team up to fourth in the league table.
