Alessandro Nesta: 'Italy should appoint Roberto Mancini as new manager'

Alessandro Nesta believes that Roberto Mancini is the perfect candidate to become Italy's new head coach.

Alessandro Nesta has claimed that Roberto Mancini would be the perfect choice to replace the outgoing Cesare Prandelli as Italy manager.

Prandelli confirmed that he would be leaving his role after failing to take the side past the group stage at the World Cup, and Nesta believes that the Italian Football Association should look no further than Mancini, who recently left Galatasaray.

"Mancini has what it takes to become a perfect Italian coach," the 38-year-old, who won 78 caps for Italy, revealed on Goal.com. "He has a good reputation, the right experience, he's the perfect man.

"I'd choose him rather than Massimiliano Allegri, who lacks international experience."

Former Italy captain Fabio Cannavaro has revealed that he is ready to take over the national side.
