Chile's Mauricio Isla has weighed in on the Luis Suarez bite scandal by revealing that he felt it was an "ugly gesture" from the Uruguay forward.
It was confirmed on Thursday that FIFA had suspended Suarez for nine international matches and handed him a worldwide four-month ban from football-related activity for the bite on Italy's Giorgio Chiellini.
The Liverpool striker will now miss the start of the Premier League season, but Isla believes that it was difficult to defend his actions.
"It was an ugly gesture that has no place at a World Cup," the 26-year-old told reporters.
"For FIFA, for everyone watching, it's something you don't want to see and now Uruguay have lost an important player."
The ban will not prevent Liverpool from selling Suarez this summer.
