Brian McDermott pleased with McCormack-Wickham chemistry

Leeds United manager Brian McDermott expresses his delight at the "natural" relationship between Ross McCormack and Connor Wickham.

Leeds United manager Brian McDermott has expressed his delight at the "natural" relationship between Ross McCormack and Connor Wickham.

Recent loan signing Wickham started his first game for the Whites alongside the Championship's top scorer McCormack against Queens Park Rangers on Saturday, and McDermott has been pleased with the pair's chemistry.

Sunderland frontman Wickham spent part of the first half of the season on loan at Sheffield Wednesday, scoring eight goals in 11 games for the Owls.

He reportedly turned down the chance to rejoin them, instead choosing Leeds as his loan destination.

"Connor wanted to wear that number nine shirt and he wanted to come and play for Leeds United. So we are delighted that he has come to us," McDermott told the club website.

"Ross is a good player and so is Connor. They have got this natural thing going. Connor has settled in really quickly."

The duo are expected to lead the line again on Saturday when Leeds host Bolton Wanderers.
