Brian McDermott wants to recruit as many as seven players for Leeds United during the summer transfer window.

Leeds United manager Brian McDermott has revealed that he would like seven new players to arrive at Elland Road this summer.

The 52-year-old has been in charge of the Championship side for three weeks now and having had time to assess the players at his disposal, he has decided that a number of fresh faces are required for the new campaign.

"We'll see what happens and we'll see who we manage to bring in. I've given Gwyn (William, technical director) and Shaun (Harvey, chief executive) a list of six or seven players who I'd like to talk to," McDermott is quoted as saying by the Yorkshire Evening Post.

"Giving a list and getting players over the line isn't the same and it's not easy to get players over the line. My experience of football is that sometimes it takes longer than you'd like. But it would be nice to do business early. Recruitment is going to be really important for us."

The Whites finished last season in 13th place.
