Leicester City's Matty James vows to 'come back stronger' from injury

Leicester City midfielder Matty James promises fans that he will 'come back stronger' from a knee injury that he suffered in May.

Leicester City midfielder Matty James has vowed to 'come back stronger' from a knee injury that has kept him sidelined since May.

The 23-year-old suffered anterior cruciate ligament damage during the Foxes' 2-0 win over Southampton in May.

"I've come off crutches now and I'm walking about the best I can," James told Foxes Player. "I've started to do some exercises in the gym but I'm just taking it nice and slow. I'm just trying to build the quad back up to get some stability back in my knee.

"The reaction from the fans was really good. At the time I was devastated to do it and thinking about how long I'd be out for, so it was great to have that support.

"I've seen some really nice messages and it's great when you receive that kind of support as a football player. Hopefully now I can work hard to come back even stronger."

Leicester, who remain without a manager following Nigel Pearson's dismissal last week, will face Sunderland at the King Power Stadium in their first Premier League game of the season on August 8.
