Marc Albrighton: 'Leicester City players not angry with Riyad Mahrez'

Midfielder Marc Albrighton says that the Leicester City first-team squad are not angry with Riyad Mahrez for attempting to force through a move to Manchester City.

Midfielder Marc Albrighton has insisted that the Leicester City first-team squad are not angry with teammate Riyad Mahrez.

Last week, Mahrez put in a transfer request in an attempt to secure a transfer to Manchester City, only for the Premier League leaders to refuse to meet the asking price of the Foxes hierarchy.

Mahrez has since failed to turn up for a number of training sessions, and reports have claimed that the Algerian's stance has angered members of the Leicester squad.

However, Albrighton has dismissed suggestions that Mahrez faces a backlash upon his return, saying that everyone at the East Midlands outfit accepts that the player is going to attract interest from bigger clubs.

The 28-year-old is quoted by the Daily Mail as saying: "We know this from when Claudio [Ranieri] was relieved of his duties last season, stories will get made up. They're far from the truth and we just have to deal with it.

"We can't come out and argue with anyone, we just have to get on with our football and do our job.

"I've seen a few stories saying the players were angry and it's far from the truth. That's something that we have to deal with. We know it's going to happen and we just get on with our job."

Defender Harry Maguire has said that the squad want Mahrez to return to the King Power Stadium as soon as possible.
