Zoumana Bakayogo has returned to his parent club Leicester City after rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament in his first appearance for Yeovil Town on Saturday.
The 27-year-old defender came off after 37 minutes at Birmingham City after appearing to catch his studs in the turf with no-one around him.
"Zoumana said he just felt his knee crumble under him. It was innocuous - he just turned and he felt it," Yeovil manager Gary Johnson told the club's official website.
Johnson admitted that he may now have to go after another left-back because of the injury problems that he has in that position.
