Leicester City allow midfielder Hamza Choudhury to sign for Championship side Watford on a season-long loan deal.

Leicester City have allowed midfielder Hamza Choudhury to sign for Watford on a season-long loan deal.

With three weeks of the transfer window remaining, the Foxes remain as the only Premier League club to make a single first-team addition.

That is a consequence of a number of factors, including the club's finances and there being limited vacant spots in the Premier League squad.

However, on the back of long-serving goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel departing for Nice, Leicester have now agreed to part ways with Choudhury.

On Wednesday afternoon, it was revealed that the 24-year-old had been given permission to move to Vicarage Road for the 2022-23 campaign.

The transfer comes after Choudhury was provided with just 12 appearances in all competitions last season, even with Leicester competing in Europe.

The academy graduate has remained as no more than fourth choice in the central-midfield pecking order with Youri Tielemans currently still at the King Power Stadium and Leicester opting against cashing in on Boubakary Soumare.

In total, the former England Under-21 international has made 84 outings in a Leicester shirt, and moves to Watford looking to play a key part in a promotion campaign.

Choudhury will hope to be part of the squad for the Hornets' Championship fixture with Burnley on Friday evening.

However, with Rob Edwards's side collecting four points from matches against Sheffield United and West Bromwich Albion, he will realistically have to make do with a spot among the replacements.
