Rene Girard 'angry after worst Lille defeat'

Rene Girard says that he is "angry" with the commitment of some of his Lille players following their defeat to Bordeaux at the weekend.

Rene Girard has expressed his irritation with Lille's defeat to 10-man Bordeaux on Sunday.

Les Dogues conceded their first goal in 12 goals as they slipped to third in the Ligue 1 table after losing 1-0 at Stade Chaban-Delmas.

"It was a non-match, our worst since the beginning of the season," manager Girard told reporters. "When you don't play, you can't win.

"People always say it's easier for the team with the extra man but it means the opponents stay massed in front of goal and work hard for each other. We didn't have the ingredients to make the difference.

"What made me angry was the comportment of certain players. We knew we'd lose at some point but the manner of defeat didn't please me. I didn't expect so much apathy from us and I hope it teaches us a lesson."

Lille host Bastia in their next match on Sunday.
