Gabriel Jesus: 'Disallowed Leroy Sane goal changed the game'

Gabriel Jesus says that it is "difficult" to discuss Leroy Sane's goal against Liverpool, which was wrongly ruled out by the officials at a key point in the game.

Manchester City forward Gabriel Jesus has claimed that the controversial decision to rule out a second goal for his side changed the complexion of things against Liverpool.

The Citizens were a goal up in the second leg of the Champions League quarter-final tie and had momentum on their side when Leroy Sane bundled the ball over the line.

Referee Antonio Mateu Lahoz wrongly ruled out the strike, however, failing to see that James Milner got the final touch to the ball before Sane struck home, thus leaving the German winger in a legal position.

Liverpool went on to kill off the tie completely, scoring through Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino to win 2-1 on the night and 5-1 on aggregate.

Speaking to reporters after the game, Jesus said: "We managed to score the goal very early in the second minute and that was very important. After that we managed to keep the ball on the sides.

"For Sane, that was unfortunate and that was difficult to take, obviously, because I think that changed the game a little bit. But it's difficult to talk about the goal, if it's conceded or not. This is part of football, sometimes these things happen."

City manager Pep Guardiola was sent to the stands for his reaction to the goal being ruled out.
