Craig Bellamy believes that Brendan Rodgers is a "very good" appointment for Liverpool but recognises that it will be a tough task for the Northern Irishman.

Liverpool forward Craig Bellamy believes that the Reds have made a shrewd move in appointing Brendan Rodgers as the new manager of the club.

The soon-to-be former Swansea City boss is expected to be unveiled as Kenny Dalglish's successor today at a 10am press conference on Merseyside.

"I think they have made a very good appointment in Brendan Rodgers, I really do," said Bellamy. "He is very good guy as well, speaks well, knows his football, and he has proven himself.

"Liverpool is a huge, huge challenge. No disrespect to Swansea but this is Liverpool Football Club it certainly isn't Swansea. So it is going to be a big test for him, but to me, if you know football, you know football, it doesn't matter what club you go to."

The 39-year-old Northern Irishman is believed to have signed a three-year deal with the Reds.
