Edinson Cavani defends Luis Suarez and blasts Brendan Rodgers

Paris Saint Germain striker Edinson Cavani criticises Brendan Rodgers over his treatment of wantaway forward Luis Suarez.

Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani has criticised Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers over his treatment of Luis Suarez.

Suarez has been training on his own as of late after he claimed that the Reds had broken a promise to him over a summer move.

Reds boss Rodgers recently revealed that the player had to apologise to his teammates before returning to the first team setup.

However, Cavani feels that Suarez is being unfairly singled out due to his desire to leave the club and defended his international teammate.

"The Liverpool coach can talk about loyalty and disrespect, but maybe he needs to look up what it means," Cavani is quoted as saying in The Mirror.

"Luis had the chance last year to join a big club like Juventus, who went on to win the league in Italy, but, instead, he chose to stay and fight with Liverpool. Now, that's what you call loyalty.

"I've known about his agreement with Liverpool and understood that he would be leaving, if they were not playing in the Champions League."

Cavani moved to PSG earlier this summer from Serie A side Napoli.
