Emre Can has claimed that Liverpool's position in the Premier League table is not a reflection on Jurgen Klopp's management.
The Merseyside outfit are currently ninth in the standings, seven points behind a Champions League spot with nine games left to play.
However, Can has insisted that the team's performances show how much of an improvement Klopp has made since taking over from Brendan Rodgers in October.
"We still have to play one, two matches more than the teams ahead of us, we can still gain a few spots," Can told Kicker. "So we have achieved something under Jurgen Klopp.
"You should not look at the standings, [Klopp is] one of the best managers in the world. You should look at the football we have played in recent weeks. We've made a huge step forward as a team and have put in good performances most of the time."
Liverpool will resume their league campaign this weekend when they take on Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield.
