Report: Atletico Madrid want Christian Benteke

A report claims that Liverpool's out-of-favour striker Christian Benteke is a summer transfer target for Atletico Madrid.

Atletico Madrid are reportedly preparing a summer move for Liverpool striker Christian Benteke.

The Belgian international joined Liverpool from Aston Villa last summer and has struck eight goals for the Merseyside club this season, but has struggled for regular action.

While on international duty with Belgium, the 25-year-old admitted that he 'cannot understand' why Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has been 'ignoring' him since taking over from Brendan Rodgers in October.

According to The Mirror, Atletico will take advantage of the uncertainty surrounding the Belgian international's future by launching a bid when the transfer window opens for business.

Atletico have struggled for goals throughout the season, with strikers Luciano Vietto and Fernando Torres only hitting eight between them.
