Roberto Firmino: 'I've adapted to being a striker at Liverpool'

Liverpool forward Roberto Firmino reveals that he has adapted to playing as a striker since Jurgen Klopp took charge of the Reds in November 2015.

Liverpool forward Roberto Firmino has revealed that he has adapted to playing as a striker since Jurgen Klopp took charge of the Reds in November 2015.

Klopp has employed the Brazilian as his main striker up front at Anfield, with support coming out wide from Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane.

Firmino, who was known in his time with Hoffenheim as an attacking midfielder, told Liverpool's official website that he is relishing the switch further forward.

"Since Jurgen Klopp became our manager, this has been my new position," he said. "I wasn't a striker before but as I've been adapting into this position I've liked it more and more. I feel really comfortable and really adapted to it. I'd like to continue playing there for the rest of my career.

"I'm always very happy to score and to give assists, give passes - that's also hugely important. I work hard and I want to help my teammates. It's not always the goal itself, though the goal is the fruit of the work we've done which is why of course when I score, it's always good.

"I think though that the four years I spent in Germany changed my mentality a great deal. It made me become a lot harder."

Firmino, who has been key for Liverpool going forward this season, has netted 17 goals in 31 appearances.
