Jurgen Klopp: 'Philippe Coutinho can make the difference'

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp believes that Philippe Coutinho can make the difference after the club's 0-0 draw against Tottenham Hotspur.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has acknowledged the importance of Philippe Coutinho after his side drew 0-0 against Tottenham Hotspur in his first game in charge.

The German had a number of players unavailable through injury but Klopp believes that several members of his first-team squad showed their qualities at White Hart Lane.

The 48-year-old is quoted by talkSPORT as saying: "In football, we can always talk about these players who are not available but it makes not much sense because they are not here. I am very, very satisfied and it was very good for Divock [Origi] to play 90 minutes and get a first start and Adam [Lallana] was strong, all of them.

"It was a good position for Lucas [Leiva], from Emre [Can], we don't have to talk about the last four, they played their best position with Divock in front.

"Phil [Coutinho] a brilliant player today, he's the one who can make the difference for us of course. We don't have to run with the ball, we stop play, he got it back but of course he needs it at speed."

The result leaves Liverpool ninth in the Premier League and Klopp will face Rubin Kazan in the Europa League in his first game at Anfield on Thursday.
