Jurgen Klopp 'could be named new Liverpool manager later today'

Jurgen Klopp could reportedly be named as Liverpool's new manager this afternoon as the German coach flies into Merseyside to finalise a deal.

Liverpool are reportedly close to finalising a deal with Jurgen Klopp, who could be announced as the club's new manager at some point today.

The Merseyside outfit have moved fast to find a replacement for Brendan Rodgers, who was sacked three hours after the Reds' 1-1 draw against Everton on Sunday.

According to Sky Sports News, the former Borussia Dortmund boss, who has already held one-on-one talks with Liverpool's American owners FSG, will travel to Merseyside this morning to finalise a deal.

Klopp planned a sabbatical after ending his seven-year spell at Dortmund in the summer, but appears to be willing to cut it short in order to take over at Anfield.

Liverpool are 10th in the Premier League table, six points behind leaders Manchester City after eight games.

The Reds' next match is against Tottenham Hotspur after the international break on October 17.
