Liverpool chairman rules out Everton ground share

Liverpool chairman Tom Werner dismisses calls for a shared ground with rivals Everton.

Liverpool chairman Tom Werner has ruled out a proposal of the Reds sharing a ground with Merseyside rivals Everton.

The owner has defied pressure from local politicians to consider the move, arguing that fans would not stand for such an arrangement.

"Our supporters are not for it, therefore it is a dead issue," Werner said. "We have been told countless times they have no desire for us to share a stadium and we have listened to that.

"Everyone knows the two options we are examining – staying at Anfield or a new build on Stanley Park – and we do not want our fans to be disappointed."

Liverpool are under pressure to decide on the best course of action to increase capacity for fans.
