Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina thinks that the Reds are becoming strong contenders for the Premier League title.

Liverpool goalkeeper Jose Reina believes that the Reds are worthy of future Premier League success.

The Merseyside club have not won a league title for over 20 years, but the Spain international thinks that Kenny Dalglish's side are heading in the right direction.

"We are a much better team than last season," said Reina. "We have strength in the team and the squad and it has become competitive right now.

"It is just the first step we have to take in a long-term project.

"Things are improving but we want to be even better and at some point be champions of the Premier League again."

Liverpool are sixth in the table, 10 points behind leaders Manchester City.
