Brendan Rodgers admits Liverpool not at their best

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is disappointed with his side's performance in the first half against Aston Villa.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has admitted that his side were not at their best during the 2-2 draw with Aston Villa at Anfield.

The Reds went 2-0 down in the first half before salvaging a draw, and Rodgers believes that Villa's gameplan to hamper his side was successful.

"I thought first half we were not at our best," he told BBC Sport. "You have to give credit to Villa for that.

"They were dynamic and we could not get any flow in the game. We were disappointed with the goals.

"They played a diamond which got in between us. We played a flexible and narrow 4-4-2; we were too slow and could not get the overload."

The point leaves Liverpool in fourth.
