Daniel Sturridge: 'We will challenge for Premier League title next season'

Daniel Sturridge believes that a strong start to next season will see Liverpool challenge for the Premier League title.

Daniel Sturridge is optimistic that Liverpool can compete for the Premier League title next season if they get off to a strong start in the campaign.

The Reds struggled to get into gear at the start of the season as they lost three of their opening six games to leave them immediately off the pace behind leaders Chelsea.

Brendan Rodgers's men were never able to close ground on the Blues to launch a realistic chance of claiming the title, but the 26-year-old feels that a good start to the next campaign could see them challenge for the top-flight crown once again.

"We have, of course, not played as well as we have done in the last season but things change," Sturridge told Sky Sports News.

"Of course we aim to play well until the end of the season and next season we will hopefully be able to win the Premier League, not just get into the top four.

"We just need to start the season better than we did this season. Top four is still feasible. We have seven games left and anything is possible."

Liverpool face Newcastle United in their Premier League clash at Anfield on Monday.
