Louis van Gaal has revealed that he wants to return to football as a manager and is not interested in a director of football role.
The Dutch coach has been linked with the vacant position at Liverpool but reports of him being offered a non-managerial position will not suit him as the 60-year-old is eager to work with players.
Van Gaal said: "My fingers are itching. I'm full of fire and want to work with players.
"I get dozens of offers but I'm waiting for the best one."
Liverpool are currently in talks with Wigan Athletic manager Roberto Martinez over the position.
