Liverpool winger Harry Wilson: 'Jurgen Klopp has texted me during loan spells'

Liverpool winger Harry Wilson says that Jurgen Klopp has sent him text messages during his loan spells with Derby County and Bournemouth.

Liverpool winger Harry Wilson has admitted that manager Jurgen Klopp has sent him a number of text messages during his loan spells away from Anfield.

Having impressed for Derby County in the Championship last season, Wilson has now been given the opportunity to earn regular football in the Premier League with Bournemouth.

While acknowledging that he would ideally prefer to be representing the Merseyside giants, the Wales international has revealed that Klopp is making an attempt to make him feel wanted at the top-flight leaders.

The playmaker told Sky Sports: "Throughout last season, I was getting texts off him if one of our games was on telly that he had watched. It was good to know that when you go out on loan, you're not just forgotten about, which may happen at some teams.

"We have a loan guy who you keep in regular contact with, so when you're getting regular messages off the manager, it always gives you that boost.

"Of course I wanted to play in the Liverpool first team this year, but if that wasn't the case, I wanted to be playing in the Premier League. I was delighted when I heard Bournemouth wanted to take me and I've started off well."

In reference to a question about a smiley emoji he received from Klopp, Wilson responded: "Yeah, there's some truth in that. I'm not sure how it got about."

The 22-year-old has already netted three times from six Premier League outings this season.
