Martin Jol says that he would be shocked if Luis Suarez is proved to have racially abused Patrice Evra.

Fulham manager Martin Jol has backed Luis Suarez in the ongoing racism row.

Suarez, 24, is facing an FA disciplinary case after allegedly racially abusing Manchester United defender Patrice Evra.

However, Jol told Press Association Sport that he would be shocked if the allegations are found to be true.

Jol worked with Suarez for 18 months while managing Ajax and believes that the Uruguayan isn't racist.

Jol's comments follow Gus Poyet's defence of the Liverpool striker, with the latter citing cultural differences as a potential reason behind the confusion.
