Liverpool will sign Manchester City's Ivory Coast international defender Kolo Toure on July 1.

Manchester City defender Kolo Toure has agreed to become a Liverpool player at the beginning of July.

The 32-year-old joined City in 2009 from Arsenal but his contract at the Etihad Stadium, which is due to expire next month, will not be renewed. As a result, he will link up with the Reds without the requirement of a transfer fee.

He arrived in England with the Gunners in 2002 and managed to win one Premier League title and two FA Cups during his stint at the Emirates Stadium.

A move to Man City followed and he featured sparingly as the club won the top division for the first time since 1968 last year.

The centre-back will now join the Merseysiders and in doing so will become the first Ivorian to represent the club.
